Acceptable use policy

These rules apply to every account, sponsor profile, creative, message, destination link, report, API request, and interaction with the service.

Draft version · 22 August 2026 · Effective date to be set after review

Pre-launch draft—qualified legal review required.

This document is a product-ready working draft, not legal advice. Do not accept public payments or rely on it as final until counsel has reviewed marketplace classification, consumer rights, tax, privacy, sanctions, advertising, and launch geography. Replace all bracketed details before publication.

Policy setTermsPrivacyAcceptable use

1. Core standard

Use OWNTHEDAY for lawful, honest public sponsorships. Content must be suitable for a general audience, accurately identify the sponsor, respect other people’s rights, and lead to a safe destination. You are responsible for anyone using your workspace and for keeping campaigns compliant throughout their display period.

2. Illegal and dangerous activity

Do not promote, facilitate, solicit, or link to illegal goods or services; controlled substances sold unlawfully; weapons trafficking; human exploitation; terrorism or violent extremism; instructions intended to cause harm; sanctions evasion; money laundering; fraud; stolen goods; or credible threats. Regulated products may be restricted by country, age, license, and targeting requirements or prohibited entirely at launch.

3. Hate, harassment, and sexual content

We prohibit hateful or dehumanizing content targeting protected characteristics; harassment, bullying, stalking, doxxing, or encouragement of abuse; celebration of violence; non-consensual intimate imagery; sexual exploitation; content sexualizing minors; and explicit pornography. We may also restrict shocking or graphic material even where lawful because the calendar is public and general-audience.

4. Deception, impersonation, and manipulation

Do not impersonate a person, brand, authority, or OWNTHEDAY; create a false endorsement; hide material sponsorship facts; make unsupported health, financial, environmental, or performance claims; run phishing, pyramid, counterfeit, or get-rich-quick schemes; use deceptive interfaces; manipulate reviews or campaign metrics; coordinate fraudulent takeovers; or use payment instruments without authorization.

5. Intellectual property and publicity rights

Only use names, logos, images, music, copy, trademarks, and likenesses you own or are authorized to use. Comparative or nominative references must be lawful and not confusing. Rights holders can report suspected infringement to [email protected] with the affected URL, proof of rights, basis for the complaint, and contact details. Knowingly false reports are prohibited.

6. Privacy and personal data

Do not publish sensitive personal data, passwords, payment data, government identifiers, private addresses, health records, or information obtained unlawfully. Do not target, identify, or profile children. Get valid consent for testimonials, likenesses, mailing lists, pixels, and any personal data sent to your destination. Sponsor messages cannot be used to expose or shame individuals.

7. Links, files, and technical safety

Destination links must use HTTPS where available, resolve to the disclosed sponsor, and remain safe. No malware, spyware, credential theft, drive-by downloads, unauthorized cryptomining, forced redirects, cloaking, pop-under behavior, or circumvention of risk checks. Uploaded images must be PNG, JPEG, or WebP within published limits. Raw SVG, HTML, JavaScript, executable files, embedded tracking code, and remote image hotlinks are not accepted.

8. Reservation and platform abuse

Do not create repeated reservations to block inventory; automate bidding; evade per-account, device, or network limits; use bots to distort traffic or clicks; probe or exploit the service; access another workspace; scrape non-public data; overload endpoints; interfere with payment or midnight finalization; reverse engineer security controls; or reuse leaked credentials. Coordinated accounts may be treated as one actor.

9. Restricted categories

Alcohol, gambling, political advertising, financial products, credit, investments, crypto assets, health products, pharmaceuticals, adult-oriented services, dating, contests, and other regulated categories require explicit written approval and may be prohibited by country. Approval can impose age gates, licenses, substantiation, disclosures, or destination controls. Automated bidding and speculative resale of dates are excluded from launch.

10. Creative quality and accessibility

Creative text must be readable, accurate, and no more than the published limit. Do not simulate system warnings or calendar controls, use rapid flashing, rely on color alone, or include unreadable disclosure text. We may adapt sponsor colors with a contrast scrim and resize or re-encode images. A pending-review placeholder may display the approved sponsor name while hiding the submitted asset.

11. Review and enforcement

We may scan content and links automatically and review them manually. Depending on risk and history, we may warn, require edits, use a safe placeholder, reject or remove a creative, disable a link, freeze a date, limit reservations, suspend an account, preserve evidence, refund or reverse a transaction, or notify payment partners, rights holders, or authorities when lawful.

Financial and takeover records may remain even when public creative is hidden. Enforcement considers severity, context, recurrence, intent, risk of harm, and legal duties. Emergency action can occur without advance notice; otherwise we aim to explain the policy basis.

12. Reporting and appeals

Use “Report content” on a date page or contact [email protected]. Include the URL, reason, relevant evidence, and a safe contact method; never send unnecessary sensitive data. Good-faith reports are confidential where practicable. Sponsors may appeal a decision through [email protected] within [reviewed appeal period]. A different reviewer should handle eligible appeals. Abuse of reporting tools can itself result in restriction.

13. Geographic rules and changes

We may publish stricter category or country rules based on local advertising, consumer, sanctions, or platform requirements. The stricter rule applies. Material policy changes receive reasonable notice where possible; urgent safety or legal changes may apply immediately.
